The Queensland Government, is the Australian state democratic administrative authority of Queensland. I was briefed on this project by the Premier Mr Campbell Newman, Director of Projects Queensland and the building was developed by Cbus Properties.

Conceived from the inside-out as a building to bring together Queensland Government, the 40 storey tower offers a series of 3 level atriums, enables a non-hierarchical workstyle and utilizes the common social spaces on each floor to promote a team-based inclusive work approach. As part of the competition team with the architects and developer, I led the interior concepts and design from top to bottom with a large project team in Melbourne and Brisbane. Upon appointment, I worked with Projects Queensland and strategy team led by James Calder to develop the brief and translate it into the new standards for Government offices. Once the interiors were documented I turned my attention to the many common spaces including building lobbies, lifts, forecourt, retail areas and bathroom facilities.

The overall concept of biomimicry drew inspiration from the Queensland landscape, with the colour, materiality and texture embedded into the work floors. Special spaces included the Premier’s suites, Ministerial offices, Cabinet Room and expansive end-of-trip facilities to support the 6 star sustainability rating. The fitout was delivered as an integrated solution by Brookfield Multiplex.
