NOTE: PROJECT PHOTOGRAPHS CURRENTLY RESTRICTED DUE TO PUBLISHER'S REQUEST

Located on the banks of the Yarra River approximately 5 kilometres from the city of Melbourne, the house sits on a 25 degree sloping site. While living in the existing house for 2 years the brief and planning requirements evolved to be come the 20 year house. One which was suitable for children of all ages with respect to indoor and outdoor activities, connected-ness with the ability to separate, and materials that would stand the test of time.

The site posed a series of issues and planning constraints including access point of only 2.5 metres wide, inundation flood zone, public acquisition, indigenous overlay, significant landscape overlay multiple easements, plus it was in the newly formed Design & Development overlay. The protracted planning approval process took 3 years due to the scheme having to comply to Melbourne Water's new hydraulic, proximity and visual mass approvals before being submitted to Council.

The final outcome is a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house with gym, media area linked to the entertainment space, study, butlers pantry, cellar, workshop, lift and double car garage with a separate studio living quarters consisting of living area, bedroom and ensuite overlooking the lap pool and half basketball court.
