Workplace Principal while at Woods Bagot Australia

20,000 sqm (21,500sqft) NLA

Completed 2015

Whilst working with the Multiplex team on 700 Bourke Street, I had grown a relationship with the BM team which built on an established relationship with Woods Bagot. The opportunity to design the BM new headquarters was chance to develop a style and showcase the building expertise of Australia's largest construction firm.

The overall concept of fluidity was developed as an aspiration from the business objectives and the simple minimal style worked well with the base building upgrade occurring concurrently.

The combination of a 1990's building and new extension provided for an inefficient floor plate but the fluid concept helped to merge the two floor plates together seamlessly.

Base building interventions included forming large penetrations in the slab to form skylights to naturally light the deep space in the floor plate. This simple design move allowed occupation of rooms such as offices, project and bid rooms to utilise otherwise dark areas.
